College freshman Peter Parker didn't have much going for him in life. He's an orphan, raised by his aunt and uncle from childhood. A gifted mind but bullied by the jocks and snubbed by the girls in high school, he enrolls at Empire State University in Manhattan to pursue a chemistry degree. While touring the labs during orientation, however, his life changes when he is bitten by a spider. His late Uncle Ben always told him, "With great power comes great responsibility"; aided by his sharp mind and taking a spider-themed uniform, he now patrols New York as their friendly neighborhood Spider-Man while trying to keep his grades up and an income of sorts selling photos of himself he takes while fighting the villains who seem to be crawling from the woodwork demanding his head.
The Amazing Spider-Man follows the ups and downs of Peter's heroic exploits and social life, along with those in his life such as his Aunt May, best friend Harry Osborn, and love interests Gwen Stacy and Mary Jane Watson.
