Korolev-class Strike Carrier

The Korolev-class Strike Carrier is another veteran of the Glrrü War, having been originally designed by the Russians just prior to that conflict. The ship tends to be small, almost claustrophobic, as every available space on board ship is taken up somehow, enabling the carrier to pack as many weapons as it does into its frame while keeping a fairly large flight wing. More than one officer and crewman refer to the ship as being "three-quarters carrier, and three-quarters cruiser."

Many Korolev carriers have been converted into Marine transports, replacing the flight wing with dropships and assault shuttles. Korolevs never operate alone; they are almost always part of a task force. Often, a number of Korolevs are assigned to assist an Andromeda or Black Widow battlegroup. Despite this, they are more than capable of holding their own in a fight.

Weapons:

  1. Heavy Rail Gun Turrets (12): These turrets possess three guns each, and all guns on the turret are fired at the same time at the same target. These weapons are strictly offensive weapons, and are powerful enough to damage cruiser- and battleship-class armor and shields, especially when fired en masse.
  2. Long-Range Missile Launchers (12): The primary missile component of the Korolev's armaments, these weapons are strictly offensive weapons, and are powerful enough to damage cruiser- and battleship-class armor and shields, especially when fired en masse.
  3. Medium Rail Gun Turrets (24): These turrets possess three guns each, and all guns on the turret are fired at the same time at the same target. They serve as a secondary offensive weapon against smaller capital ships, and defense against incoming enemy bombers, patrol boats, and larger missiles.
  4. Medium-Range Missile Launchers (24): These missile launchers are dual-purpose, serving both a secondary offensive missile attacks against smaller capital ships, and defense against incoming enemy bombers, patrol boats, and larger missiles.
  5. Light Rail Gun Turrets (36): These turrets possess two guns each, and both guns on the turret are fired at the same time at the same target. These gun turrets are the ship's primary point-defense weapons, used to shoot down enemy starfighters and incoming missiles.
  6. Short-Range Missile Launcher Turrets (36): The other layer of the ship's point-defense system, these launchers fire short-range missiles at enemy starfighters and incoming missiles.
  7. Launch/Landing Bay: Unlike later carriers like the Andromeda, the Korolev still launches its fighters from a catapult deck, and can launch ten starfighters at a time. This catapult deck is located near the bow of the ship, and is used for both launches and langings. As a carrier, the Korolev carries a wing of sixty starfighters, ten assault shuttles, and two cargo shuttles. As a troop transport and marine landing coordination craft, it carries a wing of twenty dropships, and a single squadron of fifteen starfighters.
