[Arsenal] --------- We're *BACK!* We're back in the saddle again... --------- * Bourne slowly heals naturally, performs his weather-watching duties for the sailing master, and grimly practices his attack spells in odd moments, disgusted with his lack of effectiveness in the most recent fight. * Curuar keeps an eye open from his place in the crows nest for more trouble [Arsenal] It's two days after the encounter with the sea serpents... The captain's been cloistered in his quarters/office the entire time, so the XO's been running the show. O_o back *** Miles (zegon@c-24-15-245-98.client.comcast.net) has joined #HighSeas Why won't someone TELL ME when HS is going on? *** Miles is now known as Veshengo Dude. Thursday nights at 9ET. It's kind of regular. [Arsenal] Vesh: every thursday at 9pm eastern time. I thought that was public knowledge. [Arsenal] I also said something an hour ago, or thereabouts, in #d&d Yeah, I know. I just forget. :P [Arsenal] anyways, we just started, so you didn't miss much. [Arsenal] Bourne: This is nothing really unusual, as he's been known to do it from time to time on prior voyages. *** Mode change [+o Veshengo] on #highseas by Arsenal [Arsenal] #wet_bar is open for OOC chatter * Arsenal oocly takes inventory of the pirate fleet... 'k. * Sylvia prob will help with any extra healing that still is needed then take her position at her fav spot on the boat * Veshengo has, quite simply, been himself. [Arsenal] a Caer Ritaegno sailing ship (yours), a dwarven ironclad, a Marach yacht, a Northern Raider Clan longship, a Gohiong junk, two warships, and the gnomish flying cigar. am I missing one? [Arsenal] Cur: as you're looking at the other ships, you notice that the junk has a giant eagle in a cage on deck. * Monika tries to go about her duties as best as one who was rendered unto a serpent chew toy can. if folks need healing still she'll heal yas up ;) [Arsenal] as it's been two days, Sylvia and the doc can heal you up pretty well. . o O (Well, that's interesting.) * Curuar eyeballs it though his spyglass for a better look [Arsenal] Cur: oddly enough, one of the warships, which you recognize now as the Lina Inverse, is also carrying a similar cage, with another giant eagle. [Arsenal] the eagles don't seem to be fretting their seemingly captured condition. (so I'm back at full HP?) [Arsenal] ( yes ) * Monika watches it start to look like serious rain [Arsenal] 1d20+2 * Diceske throws the bones for Arsenal (1d20+2) and gets 9. [Arsenal] Cur: something strange over on the _Cold Steel_ ( oh how's Medusa chick holding up on Duras' ship? ) * Curuar checks it out [Arsenal] 1d20+2 * Diceske throws the bones for Arsenal (1d20+2) and gets 16. [Arsenal] Cur: you see that someone over there must be into statuary, as there's a statue near the bow that wasn't there yesterday. [Arsenal] It looks like a naked woman, and a dwarf is painting it. uh oh (Do we know any women on Cold Steel?) ( my women! ) [Arsenal] Mon: a few... that *is* Duras's ship. 3 that were Duras' lassies [Arsenal] Cur: int check? . o O (GAH! MY EYES! I did NOT need to see that!) oh hell it best not be the red headed elf.. Is that the one with the Medusa? 1d20 * Diceske throws the bones for Curuar (1d20) and gets 12. Duras might not be tooooooo pleased yes Bourne [Arsenal] Cur: it doesn't look like one of Duras's women. [Arsenal] 1d20+2 * Diceske throws the bones for Arsenal (1d20+2) and gets 14. *whew* ( *snrk* and a dwarf is painting it... man is that priceless hehehe ) * Curuar pans away from th naked dwarf and zeroes on the woman [Arsenal] Cur: umm... did you misread what I posted? [Arsenal] the dwarf's not naked... Ah [Arsenal] the *statue* looks like a naked woman 'k * Curuar zeroes on the statue ( *snrk* all he remembered was 'woman' hehehe ) [Arsenal] Cur: the statue looks like typical dwarven fare; passable (by their standards; very good by ours) likeness of a human woman, with a touch of regality about her. * Curuar scans the rest of the _Cold Stell_ Steel [Arsenal] Nothing else happening there [Arsenal] Everyone: As you watch, the eagles are let loose, and are used to ferry people and supplies between ships. One comes to a landing on the Natesa, and its rider dismounts. "Which one of you is Lady Sylvia?" he asks. * Curuar goes back to the job he's supposed to be doing * Bourne is curious about this, comes to look over the eagle. * Sylvia sees the landing of the eagle and is awed by the beast. Upon hearing her name she walks forward. "I am." * Monika looks over to the eagle, and walks closer [Arsenal] Bourne: it looks like a regular eagle, although it stands a good 8 feet tall, with an easy 25 foot wingspan. [Arsenal] A touch of intelligence burns in the eagle's eyes. * Bourne is impressed, signals the rider he'd like a moment when possible. * Sylvia is as well impressed by the bird as her smile widens "Can I help you?" * Veshengo whistles. "Hey, giant eagles. Been a while since I've seen one of you guys." He's talking to the eagle, not the rider. :P [Arsenal] "I'm from the _Pride of Gohiong_. Our captain has taken deathly ill, and wishes to have his last rites. As you are the only holy person in the fleet that is known to us, we ask that you aid us." He bows respectively. * Bourne refrains thereafter from signalling the rider, who has more important business. [Arsenal] Vesh: the eagle squawks at you, and bobs its head up and down a few times, then cocks his head. * Sylvia pales slightly. "Ill? I'll do what I can for him. Let me grab my things and I'll be right back." She heads down below decks and gathers her pouches and knapsack. "May I travel with the Lady Sylvia?" * Veshengo smirks at the bird. "Yeah? Didn't think so." [Arsenal] *to Sylvia* "Our own healer has been unable to help, even with the aid of our best magic." * Bourne blinks at Veshengo. *to Veshengo* "Are giant eagles intelligent?" [Arsenal] *to Monika* "Alas, our eagle can only carry two, and I must ride him or he won't fly." * Sylvia returns nodding at his info and walks to the rider. "I am sorry to hear that...I am ready." [Arsenal] He mounts, and holds his hand out to help Sylvia mount on the saddle behind him. * Monika whispers to Bourne. "I'm not sure I like this." * Bourne looks over at Monika and whispers back. "Someone dying always sucks, of course... but I take it that's not what you mean?" "Well yeah, didn't ya know? About as intelligent as us, really." * Curuar scans the horizon, working his way back toward the fleet, then back out * Sylvia mounts up behind him Why do you think they weren't going batty down there? [Arsenal] The eagle squawks at Vesh. * Monika nods. "Sylvia going off by herself at the request of another ship..." *to Veshengo* "Ah." He turns to the eagle. "Sorry to slight you, friend. I didn't know." He bows momentarily. "I've never flown before..." she says in awe "Please tell the Capt what is up, Bourne." "Yes, ma'am." [Arsenal] "It takes some getting used to, I admit." He presses his legs into the beast's side, and it gracefully lifts off, riding the wind currents over to the junk. [Arsenal] it comes to a landing near the cage, and patiently waits for you to dismount. The ride takes all of five minutes. * Bourne says over his shoulder to Monika, "A priest shouldn't be in too much hot water. Tell Curuar to keep an eye on the _Pride_." * Sylvia wraps her arms about him, "Hope this doesn't bother you." She says humorously * Bourne heads to the Captain's quarters and knocks on the door. [Arsenal] B: "Enter." * Bourne does so. "The _Pride of Gohiong_ has requested Lady Sylvia's services for last rites, sir. Their Captain is dying. She asked me to let you know she went over." [Arsenal] Sylvia: oddly enough, he doesn't react. At all. [Arsenal] focus on Bourne for now... we'll get to Sylvia soon enough. [Arsenal] B: the cap'n nods, never looking up from where he's making notes and workign with nav instruments on his map. "Shame. I hope their other officers are as competant. That captain was a powerful man, and not in the way we normally expect." "How so, sir?" [Arsenal] "What do you think of when you say someone is poweful?" "There's a lot of kinds of power. The first thing that comes to mind is someone highly placed in government. Then there are very strong musclemen, or great mages." [Arsenal] "He had the power of the mind; a rare power, to be sure. He was also the head of his family, and that family is well-placed behind their government." [Arsenal] "Couple with that the strength of his own personality, and we're losing one major asset this trip." * Bourne pauses a moment. "*Very* powerful, sir? Can't those people heal illnesses? Especially their own?" [Arsenal] The captain looks up. "Normally, yes. That bothers me." He turns back to the map. "That is very odd. There are no islands recorded where this black vault is supposed to be." * Bourne files both of those tidbits away. "Artificial, perhaps, sir?" [Arsenal] "Perhaps. Perhaps not. Anything else?" "No sir." [Arsenal] He waves your dismissal, going back to his navigation instruments. "Maybe I miscalculated something..." he mutters. * Bourne heads out to deck, pondering this information. [Arsenal] over to Sylvia! * Sylvia slides off the bird. "Thank you... please show me where he is so I may examine him." [Arsenal] Syl: the rider slides off as well; the eagle returns to its cage. The rider takes you into the junk's cabin area, and into the captain's room. The place is done up in ornate, exotic, and foreign decorations; the air is thick with sandalwood and myrrh incense. The captain is laying on a four-poster bed, attended by three women, all strikingly beautiful in their own way. The women back off as you approach. [Arsenal] One of the women looks at you. "I know your language, I can translate for you. I am called Syn." * Sylvia nods her thanks. "I guess you already know who I am... at least he knew my name." She eyes the man on the bed as she comes near. "If you will allow me to examine him? Maybe I can help?" But is her real name Chihiro? ;^) [Arsenal] "His life is in your hands, Drake Sylvia." * Sylvia raises an eyebrow at her Father's name prior to her own. oO Must be a custom...Oo She nods again as she begins to examine the man on the bed [Arsenal] heal check "How long has he been sick? What are the symptoms?" 1d20+12 * Diceske throws the bones for Sylvia (1d20+12) and gets 26. [Arsenal] "He has been short of breath and feverish all day. He never gets sick. This happened suddenly, and our own healing magicks ... did not help. He... how you say? got worse." [Arsenal] Sylvia: he's clearly dying with each breath. He's bald, pale, clammy, breathing harshly. He looks at you, and tries to recoil, but doesn't have the strength to move. The clothing you see around you seem made for someone much less gaunt. * Sylvia 'hmmms' as she checks his vitals, looks him over for bites, hives, anything that could result from an allergic reaction [Arsenal] gimme a search check, then. Remember that you can do a very thorough one by taking 20. * Sylvia coos quietly at him. "It is alright. I am hoping to be able to help you..." She says quietly. [Arsenal] it'll take some time, though... 10 minutes. taking 20? [Arsenal] (assume you kept rolling 'till you hit a 20, calculate the total of the check based on that 20, plus any bonii) 'k... if it looks like he has 10 mins.. she'll do it [Arsenal] she does... [Arsenal] what's her search bonus? 'k she'll do it search sucks.. her heal is the highest "Has he eaten anything out of the ordinary w/in the last day or so prior to his sickness?" she says as she examines his body for any indications of bites or allergic reactions (as mentioned above) [Arsenal] 23... as you're doing your inspection, you notice there's what looks to be a puncture wound on the underside of the tongue. Your healing knowledge knows nothing that can enter like that, but it looks like while you can ease his suffering, you don't know what else would help heal him. * Sylvia *sighs* sadly. "He has some type of puncture wound under his tongue..." [Arsenal] Syn looks shocked, and says something to the other women, who leave the room. "How can this be?" she asks. "What could puncture him there?" * Sylvia eyes the woman warily, "I'm not sure... what type of animals or wild life might be able too?" * Sylvia thinks for a moment. "Is he... *whispers* Does he have many enemies?" [Arsenal] "Insects. And many, but none out here. Everyone on the ship is loyal to him." * Sylvia ponders carefully on her next words. "Everyone? How sure can you be to that statement?" 1d20+12 * Diceske throws the bones for Sylvia (1d20+12) and gets 26. *snrk* same amount hehe [Arsenal] RP the heal check. ;) * Sylvia returns examining the man carefully pondering on what herbs or ways to expel the 'poison' [Arsenal] you've got a mix of herbs that you think would work. * Sylvia digs thru her knapsack and pulls out the small bowl and begins to bring out her pouches w/herbs sifting thru several finding the ones she thinks will work. "I'm going to try something..." * Sylvia places the stuff down and gently lays her hand on the man's chest. She'll grasp her holy symbol with her other hand and pray to Navor to grant her power to hold off the poison. Closing her eyes, she feels the overwhelming power of light fill her and transfer to the man on the bed. Once that is done she will mix the concoction in the bowl [Arsenal] "I am certain. The crew is his family, sworn to his service. For anyone on board to poison him would bring dishonor to not only the poisoner, but to the crew and on the family. None would dare." [Arsenal] The man gasps in pain, and gets somewhat worse as your spell is cast. [Arsenal] visibly worse, even [Arsenal] "You're hurting him!" * Sylvia pales at that... "It should not have done that..." "I tried... is he affected by poisons?" she asks as she begins to mix the herbs in the bowl." - last " *** Diceske (dice@c-24-15-245-98.client.comcast.net) has quit IRC [Quit: These dice of mine are glowing a burning red! SESSION END!] [Arsenal] "He is ..." she struggles with the word, "... human." * Sylvia thinks for a second. oO I didn't even think to see if he's evil... umm but I wouldn't think that would make a difference...Oo [Arsenal] Int check "I tried to slow the poison... I do believe he has been poisoned rather by a being or some animal, that I am unsure of." 1d20+3 opps no dicey [Arsenal] in the bar "I can only hope the herbs work... what kind of 'human' is he? I mean is he normal like me? This is important. I *MUST* know. This could very well heal him or kill him." she says sternly as she pauses from her stiring to eye the woman directly in her eyes [Arsenal] "He is human like we are." [Arsenal] Syn looks at her captain. "I fear he won't last an hour." [Arsenal] "Will you perform your god's last rites?" "Then I will try the herbs... and hope..." She says as she finishes up the herbal mixture. "Help me with giving this to him. Then I will perform last rites just in case." [Arsenal] she nods, and seems to know instinctively how to apply the herbal mixture. Once done she will perform the rites. Praying to Navor for the man's soul to pass into the Light if his death is to be. She'll kneel besides the man and pray. [Arsenal] Once the rites are performed, the Hong captain breathes his last. * Sylvia shoulders droop as she lowers her head until her chin rests upon her chest. oO Perhaps it was meant to be... but why? The poison was too powerful...Oo Tears form in her eyes and she closes them before they fall * Monika OOCly goes to the pot again * Sylvia whispers hoarsly "I am sorry...I had hoped." [Arsenal] Syn reaches over, and closes his eyes. "Thank you," she says. "I would like you to officiate when we consign his body to the sea. Unless, you know how to raise the dead?" "Even if I could...the poison would still be in his system unless my herbs did do the trick..." (does our Capt have more scrolls or was that his only one?) [Arsenal] as far as you know, that was the only one. "Unless you think that somewhere in that treasure that these ships are after, could be a scroll or an item that could. I do not know if you wish to keep his body around that long..." * Sylvia still kneeled upon the floor [Arsenal] "Possibly. Come, let us leave the dead to his sleep." She helps you up, and leads you back outside. [Arsenal] Cur: are you keeping an eye on the junk via spyglass? * Sylvia *nods* wearily and followers her out Yep * Veshengo is doing his random thang. [Arsenal] Cur: Sylvia seems to be crying as she's brought out into the open. The woman with her is showing almost no emotion. . o O (That doesn't look good.) * Veshengo shows up right behind Curuar and taps him on the shoulder* ( *snrk* don't jump to high hehehe ) ( wait.. isn't that something Neil would do? ;) ) "Yeah?" "If you're gonna peak, at least tell me what's going on." * Curuar desn't take his eyes off the _Pride_ * Veshengo smirks. "It looks bad." [Arsenal] Vesh and Cur are in the crow's nest, btw "If the crew or family decides to put him to rest... I will officiate if you wish." (Yeah. I was hoping I'd creep Curuar out by popping up there without a noise. :P) [Arsenal] "The crew is family. And thank you." * Sylvia absently *nods*. "When...when would you like for the ceremony to happen?" "What looks bad? I mean, who's that down there? My eyes aren't exactly the best, ya know." "There's a woman down there with Lady Sylva. She seems rather disdraught, the other looks almost... stoney." "Oh, that all?" [Arsenal] "It is our custom to commit our dead at sunset." "Look for yourself." *hands Vesh the spyglass* * Sylvia *nods* "Today then?" she looked over at the woman, studying the lady's face [Arsenal] Syn's face remains emotionless. "Yes. We will grieve afterwards, not before." Then it dawns on her. oO More customs...grieving afterward...Oo She *nods* again * Veshengo takes it and glances through. [Arsenal] brb Gotta step away for a bit. * Monika oocly grumbles... this is gonna be my last sesh for about two months or so, and my folks are trying to acclimate me to bewt camp mornings [Arsenal] Mon: *ew* [Arsenal] back, btw b [Arsenal] "I understand you have other duties. You can return to your ship; we will send Tzu over again before the designated time." * Sylvia *nods* and turns to face the woman. "I *am* sorry that I could not help...I will await his arrival later then." [Arsenal] Sylvia is subsequently returns to the _Rajni Natesa_ via giant eagle. * Curuar keeps an eye on the _Pride_ after Sylvia has left it * Sylvia will go below deck to put up her knapsack and other pouches * Veshengo gives Curaur his spyclass back, then climbs/jumps/tumbles down. (spyglass) *to Sylvia* "Want to talk about it?" "What happened over there?" * Sylvia redrimmed eyes turn to him. "He had a puncture wound under his tongue..." "...Ow." "Some kind of poison, I'm sure of it." "Has to be. That puncture was how it was delivered, maybe." "Was anyone else on the ship sick, Syl?" * Sylvia *nods* absently "I was thinking as such... " "I...I didn't think to ask. They will be getting me toward sunset. To officiate the ceremony." * Veshengo raises an eyebrow. "Sounds kinda fishy to me." *** Closed channel log for #highseas at 5/28/2004 12:06:25 AM *** Opened channel log for #highseas at 5/28/2004 12:06:28 AM "Maybe the Capt...if he knew the man. Did he?" "The eagle rider wouldn't let me go with Sylvia when he came to get her." "They could send another. I'm sure they'd not mind our Capt going to it if he did know the man." "Well, one at a time, that's all. Actually, yeah, Captain will probably want to be informed. He knew the man." "Tell him of the puncture wound. Maybe he's seen or heard of that type before." * Bourne scratches his eyebrow. "Hmm. Very definitely smells like murder. The delivery... could have been food. Might have been something else. And men and supplies were being ferried all around the fleet earlier today." "So they could be anywhere. Except... did any come here? I don't think we had anyone, or any supplies, leave the ship or come on board." "How else would somebody get a puncture wound on the underside of his tongue?" "Food sounds probable." [Arsenal] I should have said something earlier... you did receive a few food supplies. * Sylvia remembers him recoiling from her...oO Was it due to me not being of his crew? Oo [Arsenal] fresh fish, more salt pork, etc... ( the fish! the fish did it! Weresharks getting revenge! ) "Did anything come over that you guys saw?" "Or leave?" * Monika racks her brain and tries to think back... * Sylvia looks over the water, distantly. "I didn't really pay attention.." "If nothing left, then we'r' in good shape, because whatever it was couldn't possibly have come from us. Same probably goes for the gnome airship. Other than that, though... it could have come from any one of the other ships. And while something like that might have been loaded before we put off to sea, I'm willing to bet that whoever planned such a thing would have been here to see to it." "So, quite possibly, this fleet may well have a traitor in its midst." "There's always a traitor. The question is if they're actually *doing* anything." "That is possible...they *ARE* pirates." her lips smirk slightly, but the gloom returns quickly "Exactly." "I need to get a message to my father..." "I should go fill the captain in. Signal for an eagle, Syl." "Remember to mention the puncture wound." "It may or may not mean anything.." * Bourne nods, and goes down to report to the captain on all this. [Arsenal] there are special flags on board for summoning an eagle rider. * Sylvia will get the flag to be raised * Bourne knocks. [Arsenal] A giant eagle is sent over. It is Tzu and his eagle. [Arsenal] B: "Enter." * Bourne enters and updates the captain. "...so I was thinking, sir, that we should really deal with this quickly. Captain Drake is the fleet's unified command, so with his approval and yours I'd like to volunteer the services of the officers of the _Rajni Natesa_. It's provable that the murderer can't be aboard here, because we had no opportunity to send goods away. So they might trust us to investigate among the other ships." "I need to go over to the Rage of Darkness. Can you take me?" She asks Tzu [Arsenal] B: The captain listens to all this, and nods. [Arsenal] S: Tzu helps you climb aboard. Once again, the flight is quick and easy. * Sylvia will see if Drake can see her once they land after she tells Tzu that she'll be back shortly [Arsenal] B: "I want you to be in charge of this yourself, Mister Bourne. It is your idea, after all, and an officer of this ship." "Very well sir. With your permission to leave?" [Arsenal] He waves his dismissal [Arsenal] Syl: Drake *always* makes time for his daughter. ;) hehe * Sylvia will give him the bad news, attempting to keep 'face' in his presence not good to bawl like a baby in front of dad hehehehe though she barely keeps it though * Bourne heads out. "Raise the flag for the eagle riders. Oh, Sylvia's already out. Belay that, then. We'll wait until she gets back, then." she'll also mention the puncture wound and the opposite affects her spell did [Arsenal] Drake listens intently. "I had heard tell of a poison like that. It was a Yuan-ti poison, enchanted so that spells that affect the health of a person have the opposite effect. Cure works as inflict, inflict works as cure, the whole nine yards." * Sylvia *nods* sadly "Yuan-ti?" [Arsenal] "The southern snake people." "Do you think this was an attack that will lead to others being attacked?" [Arsenal] "I don't know. It's a nasty enough poison for an assassin to use on anyone." * Sylvia fumbles with part of her clothing and looks down. "I thought I'd let you know...they are wanting to do the ceremony tonight at sunset and have asked me to officiate." "...I've got it." * Bourne looks around for people he trusts (i.e., PCs), calls them over to him. * Curuar is in the crows nest * Monika walks over to Bourne [Arsenal] He nods. "I think it's best if you do. But be careful; they may not know that you tried to help." Cur: If it's getting near sunset, maybe you're off shift? * Sylvia *nods* * Veshengo walks over leisurly. "What's going down?" (Heh, he trusts me. Hehehe.) [Arsenal] it's not yet... but Cur has spent most of the night there; his relief's there to take over. "Are you going to attend?" * Curuar climbs down as he's relieved "Okay. If the Hong will allow this, I think we have a chance to actually find our guy." [Arsenal] "I might, I might not. It's not their custom to let outsiders onto the ship for a funeral." "What do you have in mind?" "We'll need to do some legwork: for now, I'm going to go on the assumption that the poison was delivered in food." * Sylvia eyebrows raise. "Oh... guess they're letting me because I'm a cleric.." "We need to trace any supplies that came to the Hong ship today, and who sent them; whose hands they passed through. That includes Hong crewmembers who handled what the Captain ate. I bet they won't like it, but we'll have to." "Also, if *I* had suddenly bit on a sharp object that pricked my tongue, I'd try to spit it out. Someone needs to go over their Captain's room with a fine-toothed comb." * Sylvia *sighs* "Well I better get back over... I don't need to keep Tzu too long." She goes and *hugs* him tighter than usual. [Arsenal] "Yes. They're without a holy person on the ship, although their mages are capable of casting spells our wizards can't." [Arsenal] "Such as healing spells." "But here's the kicker: once we've found our suspects, we convince our guy that *he needs to try again.* We rush Sylvia over there with two scrolls and tell everyone that they were a resurrection scroll and one to neutralize poison. The captain's alive, but weak and slowly recovering, and not to be disturbed." "Then we watch our suspects. Like eagles." [Arsenal] Syl: he hugs you back as well. * Veshengo shrugs. "Hidin' is something I'm good at. Spying, on the other hand..." "I'm sure they'll be watching us as well. After all, we're to be guests on their ship." * Curuar joins Vesh, Moni, and Bourne. "Is something up?" * Sylvia will head back then "Well, we'll be acting pretty much in the open. The trick is watching when they don't think we are." Curuar: actually, I had assumed you were there for that whole speech. "Okay, okay. That makes sense. " Was shinnying down the rigging * Bourne quickly recaps the whole thing for Curuar. [Arsenal] or assume Bourne didn't *start* until Cur showed up. "I thought something was wrong when Lady Sylvia came back aboard. The lady walking her back to the eagle never so much as showed a facial twitch." * Veshengo nods. "'course. Your capt just died, are you gonna show emotion?" *to Vesh* "A bit, yes. But she looked like her face could have been chisled from ice." * Veshengo could have been sarcastic, it's really hard to tell. :P "Could be their way. We'll be poking into enough private feelings in the days to come, I'm sure." * Sylvia will head back to Tzu to be flown back [Arsenal] Syl: you arrive back in due time. * Sylvia silently breathes easier for not falling apart in front of daddy * Sylvia will walk to the gathering gloom... gathering friends "We're just gonna be killing people. No big deal." * Bourne calls Sylvia over. "Syl, we need your help." * Sylvia heading there "Father said it was the work of the Yuan-ti, the southern snake people." She says quietly "...there aren't any of those on the -- oh. The poison was from them." "That's an interesting twist." "Well that is the way of their poison...he said. Rather or not it WAS them that did it..." "Look, Sylvia. We need you to go grab a couple of scrolls from the captain; it doesn't matter which two. We want you and the Hong officers to pretend that you've resurrected the Captain and cleared the poison from his system; that he's weak, so he can't come out, but he's recovering." *as soon as Sylvia arrives* "We're going to see if we can't all come over to the Hong ship." "Umm gonna be hard. They're doing the ceremony here in a while, at sunset. They're customs are...tight." "Tell them the _Rajni Natesa_ sent no supplies or men to their ship, so we couldn't possibly be harboring the murderers, and ask if they'd be interested in having us investigate the matter as neutral parties." "...that's kind of the point. You can't bury him and have this work." "And they're particular on who sets foot on their ship... as for this ceremony, Father said that they do not allow strangers...I'm only going as officiator." *** RustAngel is now known as Neil [Arsenal] oi, Neil. [Arsenal] he's tending to his eagle on the other side of the ship. "Syl, I'm not sure my point is getting across. I'm asking you to ask the Hong officers to fake the Captain being *still* *alive*. That would *preclude* a *funeral*, see?" "You go over there with a couple of scrolls and the officers tell people it's a resurrection scroll and a scroll to neutralize poison, and then they pretend the Captain is recovering in his quarters." "Then whoever tried to kill him has to try again, and maybe we can catch them, see?" * Neil comes up from below decks. "I still get seasick..this is *not* good." * Sylvia looks uncomfortable as she fumbles with her clothing "I can see if they'll want to do that. If they don't I'll not force this issue." "If they refuse you, then of course we can't do it. I'm not asking you to force them into anything. This is just my idea for the investigation." "If you want me to try... then I better to and talk with Syn." * Veshengo nods. ack... 'better *go* and talk with Syn "Don't hurt yourself." ~_^% "So, what's going on then?" He looks to Bourne. Neil's hair is out of place. That's odd for- no, wait, this is Neil. "If they agree to that, ask if a couple of others of us can come aboard for investigation purposes. Thanks, Sylvia." * Bourne eyes Neil, ponders momentarily, decides he's still an officer technically and should be informed, and fills him in on previous events his idea for an investigation. "What should we care about the goings on on the Gohoingi junk anyhow? It's probably silent mutiny." * Sylvia *sighs* sadly. "I'll go and talk with her.." "Because it *can* affect us." "If it isn't already on board.." she says as she heads over to Tzu "Because someone's dead and we should bring their murderer to justice and we have an opportunity to do so. Or also, in terms you'd understand, who knows but he might come after us and you can't shoot a fireball at poison you don't know is there." * Neil scritches his head. "It's a pirate ship." [Arsenal] Syl: Tzu frowns as you tell him where you're going, but agrees to it. [Arsenal] In 5 minutes, you land on the deck of the junk. * Sylvia asks him if he could talk with Syn [Arsenal] Syn is on the rear deck when you land. "Honestly, some intra-pirate feud is none of our business. The more panic we spread about all this, the more we do whatever whoever did this wants." "Even pirates have a basic honor, lad. You don't whack members of your own fleet." "Which is why we'll approach this with caution and the utmost dispatch, to nip this little conspiracy in the bud." * Sylvia will approach her. "May I talk with you for a few mins?" "Maybe you haven't considered the fact that mistrust among dishonorable men comes quite easily. If we or whoever goes pointing fingers, this fleet is a war among itself." "Besides, as soon as we reach the loot there's going to be a free-for- all. If we've been letting people kill each other in the open sea and turning a blind eye, it will be a bloody riot when there's treasure to be had. Stomping down on it now means there's a chance of some fraternal feelings when it comes to divvying up the shares." "If you have a grudge Bourne, and you're sailing beside the one person you most hate, your arch nemesis t'aint gonna keelhaul himself." "Don't forget that if we don't show up in stregnth, we might not be able to do what we set out to do." "Not if we get Captain Drake's approval of it the investigation. He's the closest thing around here to authority, anyway." "I'm just a crazy ass sorceror. Would you like for me to interview the crew?" [Arsenal] Syl: Syn looks at you. "Yes. What is on your mind?" "Is there some place we could talk quietly?" [Arsenal] "Come with me." She leads you, ironically enough, to the captain's quarters. Once there she tells her some of the plan "Some of the officers would like to investigate your Capt's death. They believe that he was murdered and would like to help in finding the culprit. They have a plan...but it would have to deal with him." "The question hangs in the air. Look, I've got the skills to do so.." [Arsenal] Syn looks at you oddly. "What plan?" "Well, yeah. We need a few sets of eyes and ears to do this. Comb the ships, talk to crew... and I really think we should go in at least pairs, so we'll need everyone we can trust to keep the plan under their hats." * Monika starts crashing... nites *** Monika (slider@67.129.84.38) has quit IRC [Quit: There's a very thin line between not listening and not caring. She'll inform her of what Bourne was talking about - the faking of his resurrection and stuff. [Arsenal] (cya, Mon.... denied!) (Sounds good to me.) [Arsenal] yeah... here's a good place to end for the night. Same time, same place next week. *** Neil is now known as RustAngel *** Bourne is now known as William [Arsenal] -------------- ramble on -----------------
