[Arsenal] -------------------- boldly going forward -------------------- * Sylvia still keeps an eye out on the tailing ship o/~ 'casue we can't find reverse! o/~ [Arsenal] It's been about a month since the last session, a very uneventful month of sailing time. http://www.somethingawful.com/articles.php?a=2075 for some light reading The ship's still dogging our trail? month?? * Curuar attends to duties, practises with his bow, and learns the scimitar with Vesh ( ooc: Bourne!! I love that making fun song *snrk* it's hilarious... specially the Next Generation version) ) [Arsenal] the ship that has been tailing you has been at it the entire month, keeping pace with you the entire time. There's a TBG version? WHERE?! :) ) wow a whole month... what to have been doing a whole month... [Arsenal] In addition, that flying thing has been visible on and off the entire time as well. I spend time studying Windstorm s'more (another XP, total of 2), and decide to forge ahead after a while with Whirlwind (2 XP). The ship's crew presumably eventually get used to small waterspouts dancing around the ship. :^) what's it look like? Ship in air? "We're still as popular as ever." [Arsenal] When you can see it, it looks like aflying cigar. ... *snrk* * Sylvia am not gonna say a word.... * Veshengo grins. "Makes ya feel lucky, huh?" [Arsenal] basically, long and cylindrical, with rounded ends. "For sufficiently stressful values of lucky, yes, Veshengo." * Sylvia will help out with the ship if allowed [Arsenal] Syl: it's expected that the crew help out on board ship. ;) * Veshengo is doing his duties. good :D she'll do what she can... since she has pretty good skills in the ole sailing * Monika attends to her duties like a good little bosun's mate. "Sylvia... let's discuss 'overcompensation'." ooc: *snrk* [Arsenal] The ship has ended it's southbound run, and it now headed due west. Off the starboard side, you can see what looks to be a rocky shoreline with tall evergreen trees. The third moon, which should not normally be visible this time of year, is visible and sits low on the southern horizon. * Sylvia enjoys the eve, meditating at her fav spot on the ship (unless she's supposed to be on watch *snrk*) [Arsenal] it's noon, btw [Arsenal] the captain is on deck, scanning the starboard side with his spyglass. "Is it my imagination, or is that Al Quenda off our starboard bow?" * Curuar pulls his spyglass and looks at where Monika's looking Could be. (well change the eve to noon... hehehe) "Could be." [Arsenal] lessee, you headed east, then south, and now west, for about a month. You left Freehold, which is the farthest "east" of civilized areas... [Arsenal] Al Quenda? Nope, not even close [Arsenal] ;) "That is, if were even in the right ocean." "Nope. Weong shoreline." [Arsenal] "Al Quenda? Not even close. You're looking at the southern coastline of the South Lands." "This is the farthest I've ever been away from home." "Or, at least, from the land of my birth." "I'm strangely not concern as to where we are...just enjoying the ride...the scents." Menaria quietly comments, eyes still closed (Wrong character again.) "This is it? Wow, you haven't traveled a lot, have ya?" "I've only never ben here twice before. I never left the settlements where we landed, but th settlements can be wild enough." [Arsenal] (wait until her tail start's twitching.) -n *Snrk* [Arsenal] -' (Hehe.) ( sorry... only had a few hours of sleep last night so kind'a out of it... change Menaria to Sylvia hehehe) ) * Bourne continues splicing a couple of frayed lines, and listens to the continent: its winds, its waves, any animal sounds. "Not this far around the South Lands, no." [Arsenal] you're not actually close enough to hear any animal sounds. *nod* [Arsenal] not yet at least. ( ahhh but scents are smellable? ) [Arsenal] "Settlements? Ah yes, I suppose a few of them may have popped up, although I doubt they have the way New Hope has." [Arsenal] "Where we're headed, though, I hesitate to call it a settlement." ( has he given that to us yet? As to where we be a headin' too? ) [Arsenal] "We're far enough south the Umojans won't bother us. I'm more worried about the yuan-ti that are said to inhabit the area." [Arsenal] (This is the first he's actually referenced it in a month) Do we know what yuan-ti are? [Arsenal] yes. half-human, half-snake "Snakes. Why did it have to be snakes?" "They aren't happy people, Cap'n. Any objection to going armed at all times?" *snrk* [Arsenal] *whap* * Sylvia opens her eyes, "Yuan-ti? Ummmm." (Hehe. :P) "Actually, yuan-ti are magically active as well." "Not that it makes them any less squamous... or infamous." "I have a question. Why would you not go armed? You asking for people to attack you?" He smirks. "You can't be a rig-monkey in full, armor,Vesh." -, * Sylvia cocks an eyebrow up and stiffles a chuckle "Or maybe it we treat them decently we won't have to fight them at all." * Veshengo chuckles. "I don't know, I seem to do it pretty well." s/it/if/ "And who said anything about armor? Thought you were talking about arms as in, you know... weapons." "Vesh. You know I always have a pointy-thingie near." *pulls out a dagger then puts it back* " "I am certainly not touching that line. +" * Bourne chuckles at that. [Arsenal] pointy-thingie? is that the kind of precise description they teach rookie sailors nowadays? * Sylvia can't resist any longer and *chuckles* * Veshengo whistles and smirks. "I'll let you off the hook this time." * Monika nudges Sylvia. "Apparently months at sea make women fidgety as well as men," she whispers. * Sylvia *nods* slightly as her eyes twinkle with mirth [Arsenal] the black smoke of an active volcano looms off in the distance. "Ah," the captain remarks, "we're almost there." "Monika. I remind you I'm only half a Man. Wait! That wasn't what I meant... crap." [Arsenal] the flying cigar seems to be headed straight into the smoke. * Veshengo laughs. "Elf! Halh ELF! Dammit." -h +f * Monika laughs richly. "You said it, Curuar. I didn't." "I don't have to help you along with this. You're doing just fine on your own." * Sylvia *chuckles* even more * Sylvia then eyes the flying 'cigar' "Think our flying object belongs to this place?" "I daresay that's a certainty." ( ooc: ummm as long as a solar sail don't pop up on it... ) * Curuar shuts up while he's ahead Is the volcano on land, or an island? [Arsenal] B: you can't tell yet ( ack... opps forgot yeah... is it island or juz land ) Or rather, behind. * Sylvia rubs her chin thoughtfully as she tries to keep close watch on the flying object...though hard of course since it entered the smoke * Veshengo just looks around, his eyes following the flying object generally. * Monika looks around for said flying stogie. * Bourne looks behind them at the trailing ship. What's our crew complement again? [Arsenal] down to 35 after the sharks ate 'k [Arsenal] the trailing ship seems to be getting closer, now "Hello. Looks like our friends have finally overcome their fear of intimacy." "'bout damn time." * Sylvia turns to look at the trailing ship, "Ummm so it appears. Perhaps they are docking here too...how interesting." "I've been wondering why they've been following us all this way." "Perhaps we'll soon discover if we are to dock here." "All of us have, I'd guess." Bourne eyes the captain. "Most of us." * Veshengo doesn't sound particularly interested. "Oh, yeah." ( how close does it get to our ship? ) [Arsenal] tell you shortly... for now, it hasn't gotten too close I turn my attention over to the ship trailing us what are they doing on deck? [Arsenal] it's inching closer. [Arsenal] they seem to be getting ready to unfurl a flag. . o O (They were flying a Marach flag last we saw.) [Arsenal] within minutes, the flag raises... a white skull and crossbones on a black background. O_o "Punks." "ARR! 'Tis always pirate time." * Veshengo chuckles. "Arrr!" [Arsenal] "Raise our own crossbones." * Sylvia *chuckles* under her breath... but stops [Arsenal] within moments, your ship is also flying that flag. * Sylvia gets a sense of de ja vu as several memories cross thru her mind "Well! The plot thickens!" "Are they Marach privateers, sir? Or jut unaligned?" [Arsenal] "Not sure, myself. But we owe them some professional courtesy, as they've followed us to the camp." He points to the smoke, you're now close enough to see that it's a volcano sitting on an island in a bay. "Camp?" "A pirates camp?" * Curuar looks out over the 'settlement' [Arsenal] at the base of the volcano is what appears to be a small ocean-side settlement; about six ships are sitting offshore, all flying the same flag. * Veshengo isn't deterred. He just doesn't care. "This trip becomes more memorable by the moment!" * Sylvia *flushes* with excitement "Yes, definitely memorable..." [Arsenal] of the ships located there, you have a Northern Raider longship, a dwarven ironclad, a Caer Zitheral warship, two old Marach ships-of-the-line from before cannon were introduced, and a galley * Curuar looks to see if he recognizes any of the ships "What, you've never been with Pirates before?" [Arsenal] Cur: none. "I have, but I've never been to this camp before!" "Every ship is a pirate. Most just don't answer to a government." [Arsenal] Also, as you approach, you see one ship approaching that most of you have never recognized. Bourne, you recognize it as a Gohiong design. "What is THAT?" what does it look like? * Bourne looks. "Square bow, ribbed sail... that's definitely a Gohiong junk." "A ship?" * Sylvia eyes the ships with a cocky grin on her face. Eyes shimmering with excitement. "An odd name for a ship." "Not half so weird as 'coracle,' I dare say." "And I thought I'd seen every type of ship being sailed." "Sylvia, are you all right?" * Veshengo grins over at Sylvia. "Think she's excited?" * Sylvia absently *nods* "Ummm? Yeah... fine." * Monika cants her head over toward Vesh. "Just a little bit." * Sylvia mumbles under her breath, "If only to be able to see them all..." "...Wait. If these are all pirates..." He looks up at the flying thing. [Arsenal] it can't be seen from here. "...Was that that air pirate? Whatshisface?" "Yeah, I think whatshisface is his name." [Arsenal] Nerble doesn't exist this game. ;) * Sylvia *chuckles* "A pirates convention." "Or a conclave." * Veshengo smirks. "Everyone remember. Dead men tell no tales. So don't go learning tales." "And rum wakes the mind up for telling." [Arsenal] Syl: spot check 1d20+4 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Sylvia (1d20+4) and gets 18. [Arsenal] on the side of the Caer Zitheral ship, you make out the words "Rage of", but the rest is hidden behind another ship. * Sylvia breath catches in her throat as she visibly pales, her hand going to her mouth [Arsenal] your ship and the marach one following you come to a stop and lower your anchors "And I thought Sylvia and myself were going to see just how much trouble a couple of girls can get into on this island." "Sylvia? "Something wrong, Sylvia?" ( how far away is the ship? ) [Arsenal] four ships over "I'm alright...just need to check something out." * Curuar looks at where Sylvia's facing * Sylvia attempts to see any of the crew on board if possible lookingwize of course "Sure thing." * Bourne eyes the area beyond the docks. What kind of activity? [Arsenal] "Okay, enough sight-seeing! Let's get that one crate loaded onto the launch, and send ourselves ashore." [Arsenal] B: three taverns, two warehouses, a few scattered houses... [Arsenal] lots of people in the taverns. * Curuar moves to follow the captain's orders * Sylvia quickly turns to the others. "Shall we then?" [Arsenal] some half-dressed * Monika climbs up into the rigging to prepare the tackle for loading onto the crate and tries to find that ship Sylvia saw. * Veshengo grins and nods, jumping from the ship onto shore. * Sylvia assists when needed and heads to shore with the others Once done, I head ashore with the others... . o O (What "one crate"?) [Arsenal] too far out to jump to shore. (Awww, dangit.) ( gotta row prob, eh? ) (I thought we had docked already.) [Arsenal] B: the crate the were-shark was trying to open is brought up. Ah. *after the jump* "I hate it when he does that." ( ahhh that one... evil crate! ) Scratch my last statement then. ( *snrk* funny Monika ) [Arsenal] Vesh: you'd parked, not necessarily docked. * Monika edges up to Sylvia. "What was it you wanted to check out?" ( 'Sorry Master...if you'll excuse me...' ) "A certain person aboard a certain ship." She smiles at Monika, eyes still glowing (Well... If I take 10 on a jump check, I can jump 51 feet. ^^;) "And what might the name of that ship be?" [Arsenal] "Keep a weapon on you at all times. This place is rough." "Well that is... if it's the right ship of course." * Bourne eyes the ships around him, decides he'd be well advised to go armed, collects his jacket, boots, cap, and staff. "Aye, aye, sir," Monika says, doing that checking the edge of her rapier gesture she does. * Curuar gets the crate loaded * Sylvia grasps her quarterstaff * Veshengo has his equipment on him as usual. A well-crafted rapier at his side and nothing else apparently armed. * Bourne heads back updeck and postions himself next to the crate in the dinghy. * Monika whispers to Sylvia... "I saw a few names as we were pulling in..." * Sylvia eyebrows raise. "See the Caer one?" * Monika nods... "Rage of Darkness?" * Sylvia grin widens, nearly going from ear to ear. "I knew it!" * Sylvia quietens down. Blushing slightly "An assignation, then?" "Possibly." she smirked a little, eyes twinkling * Curuar stands by with Bourne, bow in hand, armor strapped on [Arsenal] half an hour later, you're on the rowboat with the crate pulling up onto the shore. The captain turns to the ogre who meets you there. "Haroun couldn't make it. He sent us in his stead." * Sylvia can barely control her excitement, as she fidgets with part of her shirt "You'll have to introduce me, Sylvia." * Sylvia looks up at Monika. "Ummm, I, well I guess I could..." [Arsenal] of the other ships parked there, you can make out the following names: Death Dancer, Cold Steel, Dragon's Breadth, and Lina Inverse. "Who knows, he might know somebody." * Veshengo raises an eyebrow this time. (...) * Sylvia *chuckles* deeply at the missing point The Unverse is one of the 'smaller' ships, ys? ;) [Arsenal] (sorry, I was short on names) "Possibly." +e (At least call it the Jolly Roger.) -U +I Black Pearl! ( Lina Inverse... now why does that sound Animeish? ) (Because it is.) [Arsenal] you want me to name one Big Bertha? ;) Slayers :) ( ohhh yeah! Black Pearl! Can't wait for the next movie! ) (Watch Slayers sometime) ( ahhh yes! good anime show ) ( have a few of the tapes ) (Could go with Black Pearl.) * Sylvia waits anxiously to be dismissed by the captain (Or you could stick with tradition and call it Revenge) (could call it Jesus. Everyone prays when they face Jesus. :P) * Curuar stands at the ready by the crate * Monika stands by the crate as well. (You said it. Nobody fucks with the Jesus. ;) ) * Sylvia stands a few feet away, glancing around at the folks * Veshengo is walking around the crate, glancing about the place. (And that was a 10-point reference) [Arsenal] The captain turns to you. "Be at the Black Pearl for dinner tonight, as you'll want to partake of the festivities there before the meeting. Beyond that, have fun. Don't kill anyone if they don't deserve it." * Sylvia *nods* and immediately heads off for the 'Rage' "Aye aye." "Let's try not to lose this shore leave, folks!" * Monika tags along with Sylvia. * Veshengo pseudo-salutes the Captain. "Sure thing Capt." * Bourne stands on the docks and looks around. . o O (Taverns. Warehouses, probably for resupply. Couple of houses. Yeesh.) [Arsenal] B: and wenches. don't forget the wenches. ;) *snrk* . o O (And wenches. Yes, I really wanted to pick up some souvenir clap on this trip.) Got Wenches? * Sylvia approaches the 'Rage' carefully looking for any of the crew that strikes familiar * Bourne looks up at the volcano. How high? [Arsenal] M, S: You head up to where the _Rage_ is parked, but the person at the gangplank doesn't look familiar. * Monika is merely following Sylvia's lead, as she is the one who knows that ship. * Sylvia "Is Captain Drake aboard?" * Veshengo looks around. Nothing interesting going on. Into tavern no. 1! Maybe there'll be a bar fight. [Arsenal] "Sorry, lass, he's at the Black Pearl. Who wants to know?" "An old friend, Sylvia. Thanks, I'll look him up there." She smiles * Curuar joins Vesh * Veshengo goes to the Black Pearl, actually! Capt. mentioned it, he tends to be pretty good on these things. * Monika does a half-bow, half-curtsey gesture as Sylvia walks off. (And yes, he calls the Captain "Capt") [Arsenal] C, V: inside, you see an older human pirate, judging by his clothes, arm-wrestling with a bugbear... and winning. What's our captain's name, btw?" [Arsenal] A halfling is watching over the procedings. -" * Sylvia will head for the 'Pearl' looking about for said captain * Curuar looks over at the halfling [Arsenal] Cur: she has a peg leg ( nooo way! *snrk* ) "vesh..." * Veshengo raises an eyebrow. "Mmm?" "Over there." *nods toward the halfling* (Tonight only at #highseas: Everybody Gets Laid!) ( not this lady! ) "Oh, just noticed her?" *shrugs* * Sylvia ganders at all the people. "Now this is one busy establishment, eh Monika?" * Monika nods. "This is my kind of place!" [Arsenal] halfling, peg leg, eyepatch... * Bourne sighs, shakes his head, and heads away from the town toward the caldera of the volcano. Will just hike and stretch his legs until dinner time. [Arsenal] Sylvia: you walked into the Black Pearl? *nod* [Arsenal] captain's name is Davies . o O (Now, as long as any smegging orcs don't decide that they will be my dance partner...) * Curuar takes the chance and walks over. "Keegis. I thought you were still in Marach." [Arsenal] Syl: well, guess who just put the bugbear down at the arm-wrestling match? It's Captain Drake. woo-hoo * Veshengo starts, you know, mingling. * Sylvia breath catches as she spies the man. Tears form in her eyes as she tries not to 'rush' over to him but walks casually [Arsenal] Cur: Keegis looks you up and down. "Now ain't ye a sight for a sore eye, Curuar. Aye, I was in Marach for a little bit. Came out of retirement for the big one, though." "The big one?" * Monika follows along at a respectful distance. [Arsenal] "Ya mean ye're here an' ye don't know? Sheesh! The big one! The big score! The big heist!" * Veshengo is being, well, himself. "The cap'n hasn't shared that bit with the crew yet. Guess he had his reasons." [Arsenal] "Heh. Which ship are ye with?" The Rajni, under Captain Davies." +" [Arsenal] "Davies? He likes to be mysterious and all that. Personally, I think the beef talked him into it." * Sylvia clears her voice slightly as she calls out to him. "Captain Drake." ( once she got close enough of course ) "Heh. If you mean a minotaur called Haroun, you're right. " * Veshengo is paying more attention to Curuar's conversation than Sylvia's. * Monika is half-paying attention to Cu and the pegged halfling, waiting for Sylvia to introduce her. [Arsenal] S: Drake turns around, and whispers something to himself. "Angel? ANGEL! My little angel!" The big man pulls you close into a hug, wiping his own greying red hair out of his face. * Sylvia embraces him back hard [Arsenal] S: "Damn, you've sprouted since I saw you last! My little angel's a pirate princess of her own, now?" "I had no idea that you would be here...but then again I had no idea I was *coming* here." She chuckled as the giddiness threaten to engulf her * Sylvia chuckled as she looked up at him. "Well sorta. I'm here with Capt Davies." [Arsenal] He offers you a seat. "Have a seat. Bartender! A round of drinks for my daughter and her shipmates!" * Sylvia eyes Monika and waves her over. "This is Monika, Monika - Captain Drake, my father." her eyes twinkle with mirth * Sylvia takes the offered seat [Arsenal] Monika: He offers you a large hand. "Damn, I wish pirates looked as good as you twenty years ago!" *to Keegis* "Who did you ship with? Or did you... aquire a ship of your own?" * Monika makes that bow/curtsey gesture. "How do you do, sir." * Veshengo glances over at Drake and chuckles. "Of course, twenty years ago, I was in diapers." * Sylvia *giggles* ( Twenty years ago, I didn't exist.) "But I do understand your meaning, sir." "And I thank you." [Arsenal] Cur: "I aquired it in a game of chance. Had to rename it, though. The previous owner had it named the 'Millenial Dolphin' or something oddball like that. So I renamed her after someone I met ages ago." ( bad Ars! Bad! *snrk* hehe ) "Anyone mom's ever met?" [Arsenal] Cur: "Perhaps. You're looking at the owner of the _Lina Inverse_!" (Gee. I didn't see that comming. ) * Curuar quirks a smile, tries to get it off his face "So how have you been?" Sylvia asks her father "Mojm used to have some... interesting tales about someone by that name." -j [Arsenal] S: "About to retire, actually. I figure I got enough left in me for one last big haul, then I can retire in style to that new world they discovered." * Sylvia eyebrows raise. "You retire? Now that's interesting! New world?" [Arsenal] "I ain't as young as I used to be, Angel. My best days are behind me. And the new world they discovered far to the west. A savage untamed land, they called it." "Savage and untamed, eh? Yep, sounds like your cup of tea!" She smirks as she puts her hand upon his arm. "You'll always be as young as you want to be, but...are you going stay in touch I hope?" * Veshengo takes a drink. * Monika graciously accepts the proferred drink and does so... any cute guys about? [Arsenal] Syl: "Of course. In fact, if things go right..." He smiles knowingly. [Arsenal] Mon: very few. * Curuar chews the fat with Keegis for a while what are my prospects here? * Sylvia smiles back, nodding slightly getting the meaning. "I wish you luck then. What's the island known for?" [Arsenal] "Island? This place? This happens to be the staging area for our big one. We're going after the biggest fish out there, and I don't mean the leviathan." "This sounds interesting. Tell me more." "It definitely must be something big to actually get all these people to work together. What is supposedly on this world?" [Arsenal] "Well, everyone knows that the fanatics of Redwater have been hoarding all sorts of magical valuables, allegedly to destroy them. It turns out, though, that there are some that are indestructable. So their church is hiding them on some islands." [Arsenal] "We're gonna swoop in, blast the snot out of their defenses, and make off with as much valuable loot as we can. We're told there'll be enough for everyone to retire in style." "Capital idea!" * Sylvia *hrms* "Sounds almost too good to be true...there is proof to this right? Not just rumors?" She gets concern all of a sudden [Arsenal] "Proof? Try eye-witness account! My own! I've seen it!" He then launches into a tale about getting captured, sentenced to hanging at dawn, and spending the night in one of the vault rooms before his crew freed him from the gallows. * Veshengo grins. [Arsenal] "And the one vault I was in was only a holding vault before they moved it to the island." "Well done, and well told!" * Sylvia pales visibly at the tale, though it's obvious he still alive, but the fact of what had happen to him pains her. "I am glad you are alright. I was worried that some government might have started this to get the pirates in an uproar to get together. Perfect time to launch a trap for you all. I would hate to loose you..." She swallowed the lump that started to form in her throat "But it does sound like an astounding heist." Her eyes take on that familiar mischevious sparkle [Arsenal] Monika: for 'prospects', you've got Drake, who's still in good physical shape for a man approaching his 40s, a few other pirates who actually bathe once in a while, and a bunch of gnomes wearing leather jackets that just walked in the door. (I don't know how 'into' short people you are, but...) Gnome bike gang :) "What church might I ask though.." (That's what I was thinking. :P) [Arsenal] Keegis nods in the gnomes' direction. "Tinker gnomes from the far east. Supposedly flown here, although I don't know if I believe that." "I think you can believe it. We had their flying widget tailing us and another ship here." Ars: what about the other pirates... Drake may be nice, but I'm not into older or short men... "At least, I think it could have been them." [Arsenal] two elves, three humans, a drow, a hobgoblin, and a dwarf who has ladies already crawling all over him. ( *snrk* sounds like Duras hehehe ) ars: the humies, then... [Arsenal] ( how do you know it isn't? ;) (Hehehe.) ( hehehehehe now that would be tripping! *snrk* ) ( 'I have a big ax...but that aint the only thing big, ladies!' ) (LOL) [Arsenal] humans: one has classic greek features, ruggedly handsome, curly dark hair, slight beard. ( Ares! opps ) [Arsenal] one is fair-skinned, fair-haired, glittering white teeth, and doesn't appear to have any bruises or callouses ( the guy playing Bail Organa is pretty hot lookin... ) [Arsenal] and one looks just like Viggo Mortensen * Monika walks up to Viggo... ( *snrk* him too! ) ( who? ) [Arsenal] (Aragorn, ya putz) ( Aragorn player and Hidalgo ) ( Hidalgo was pretty good I thought ) (Ah. Psuedo-Aragorn) (He In Need Of A Bath) ( takes Drake's arm, "Please promise me to be careful. I know there are other pirates going to be involved, but I'm sure you really don't need me to remind you to watch your backs and those of your crew." ) ack take off the "( )" *to Keegis* "So how well are you getting on with th other captains?" [Arsenal] "If it makes you feel better, you can always transfer over." [Arsenal] Cur: "About as well as can be expected. I had to get two of them to settle their differences by arm-wresling earlier." "So the bug-bear is a captain, too?" "If there was another cleric aboard his ship, I might do that. But he will need my assistance, especially if he's going to go on this masquerade as well." She grin cockly [Arsenal] "Of the Dragon's Breadth." [Arsenal] S: "Heh. Like father, like daughter, you know that?" "About that name. Is it a mispelling, or does it describe how wide he thinks his ship is?" * Sylvia wiggles her eyebrows, "Wouldn't have it any other way." [Arsenal] Cur: "Might be how wide his mouth is." * Veshengo huckles. *grins* "He's that bad?" (chuckles.) "So... what ship do you sail on?" [Arsenal] C: "Ain't all bugbears?" "Well, yeah. Unless they have an ogre or troll to ride herd on them." [Arsenal] M: "I sail on the Lina Inverse, lass. What about you?" "I'm on the Rajni Natesa." * Sylvia drinks her ale. "So who's gonna take the 'Rage' over once you retire? Jaffron your 1st mate?" * Monika takes another sip of her ale. "We just got in. What's your name?" [Arsenal] S: "I havne't decided yet. I was thinkin' of leavin' 'er in the family, though." *** RustAngel (Rust@ip-215-178.atvci.net) has joined #highseas *** RustAngel is now known as Neil Baa RA *** Mode change [+o Neil] on #highseas by Curuar [Arsenal] Mon: "Name's Jeffery. You, ah, want to have some fun?" [Arsenal] okay, you spend some time with your father, your friend, your conquest, and your drinks... * Sylvia eyes light up "Family, eh?" "Capital idea." [Arsenal] S: Drake nods. "But I know your mother wouldn't want the ship. Know anyone else related to us who might want it?" He's grinning a sly grin. "Ummm possibly." Her grin widens once more, sheepishly. * Veshengo runs out of drink in his glass. Damn. Trying to conserve that too. If time passes, I come down from hiking for dinner on the Black Pearl as the captain suggested. "Now that would definitely be an interesting prospect!" [Arsenal] Neil: the crew has put into port in a secluded, uncharted pirate haven. There's talk about of a coordinated strike on a Redwater island storehouse of valuable magic items. * Veshengo frowns for once, then shrugs, putting the glass down. [Arsenal] and it seems one of the captains is Sylvia's father, another is Curuar's peglegged halfling friend. (*snrk* Friend, no. Aquaintance, yes. ) [Arsenal] B: you see Monika walking out the door with another sailor, Sylvia talking with a man old enough to be her father, Curuar talking with a peg-legged halfling woman, and the rest of your crew getting blasted on cheap ale. "You know...I'll keep her name for your sake, but 'Rage of Darkness' is a twist to the faith I'm following." She chuckles * Neil walks quietly into the bar, sitting at it next to some of his crewmates, and actually declining the drink. "You'd normally love such a place then, wouldn't you? Yes.." [Arsenal] Captain Davies, Lt. Charboneaux, and Dr. Marazin walk in together. Wait... is the Black Pearl a ship or a tavern? [Arsenal] tavern Aah. * Bourne shows up, settles down next to a wall, and orders beer and... hesitates over what the safest food her is... bread-n-butter. "So this dinner is where folks are gonna talk about the heist, I take it?" [Arsenal] A gnome runs up to Capt Drake. "Captain, they're expecting you up front." * Bourne mutters "Or find out what was in that crate..." [Arsenal] "Excuse me, angel, but it's time to get this show started." * Sylvia *nods* Geez. Ny *hard drive* is 28.6, of which 15.8 is used. ;^) mischan "Bout time." Ars: I assume enough time's passed for me to make an appearance? [Arsenal] Syl: he gives you a hug before approaching the bar. [Arsenal] Mon: yes * Sylvia returns it "Good luck" she whispers * Monika comes back down, slightly dishevelled and grinning cheerfully. * Sylvia *chuckles* as she shakes her head at Monika * Veshengo grins. "Have fun Monika?" [Arsenal] The pirate Sylvia had been talking to heads up to the counter of the bar, and bellows out, "ATTENTION, EVERYONE!" [Arsenal] the place goes silent. *whispered to Vesh* "You might say that, yes..." * Neil sips reluctantly on his glass of quasi-brinewater. Damned bitters. He looks over to the man at the counter next to him, feeling a bit awkward standing right next to him. [Arsenal] "Thank you. As you may or may not know by now, we are all gathered here for one reason. In three days, we sail on the morning tide. Our ships, together. One big pirate and privateer flotilla!" [Arsenal] "Our target: the island storehouse of Redwater's ill-gotten gains. Magic items by the crateload are ours for the taking." . o O (And who's in command? The phrase 'herding cats' comes to mind.) [Arsenal] "I would like to thank our friends, the tinker gnomes of the far east, for providing us with an airship!" [Arsenal] A cry goes out from among the gnomes in a corner, something in gnomish that basically means "death from above" * Veshengo glances over at the gnomes, then back to Drake. * Sylvia *chuckles* at the 'death from above'. ( famous Battletech saying... ummm hehehe ) (Sylvia knows gnome? Cool. ^_^) [Arsenal] "I'd also like to thank a friend of ours who isn't here, Captain Haroun, who in his stead sent us muskets and powder for all the ships, as well as sending us Captain Davies and the _Rajni Natesa_ for added firepower in the form of Caer Ritaegno cannon!" [Arsenal] A cheer goes up among the rest of the bar. * Veshengo whistles. .oO (So THAT'S the cargo.) . o O (Aaaah.) * Sylvia *chuckles* once more * Monika whistles lowly... . o O (every little bit helps) "Boom...boom..." [Arsenal] "In three days, I and my ship, the Rage of Darkness, will lead us to this island storage facility. This Black Vault of Redwater. Once there, well, there's plenty for everyone!" [Arsenal] s/In/When we sail in/ . o O (Wonder what the real agenda is. Both of us are rather certain that this collaboration isn't just for the loot. NO! I can't burn him! Shut up!) * Sylvia thinks to herself oO I just hope this is it...it would be a perfect place for any government to walay them...Oo [Arsenal] "It'll take us a month to get there. So eat, drink, and be merry, for in three days we create history!" He turns to the half-orc in the corner. "Unglar! Kick this off right!" . o O (This almost seems too good to be true...) (FUNGAH!) [Arsenal] He downs his own rather sizable mug of ale as the half-orc starts pounding on the table, the walls, and any stray helmet that gets near in a pounding rhythm, accompanied by a light show only a bard could put on. .oO(Pretty obvious it's a trap. But, on the other hand, we'll have a very powerful fleet. Doesn't matter if it is or if it isn't if they can't stop us.) "Orc bard? They really are pirates." [Arsenal] Drake returns to where Sylvia is. "Bartender!" he shouts over the din of the drum solo the bard is putting on. "Another round for my daughter and her shipmates." "There won't be, of course." * Neil sighs, REALLY wanting grog right about now. He pushes his glass of water aside, off of the bar as a matter of fact. The breaking glass puts a halt to his current actions and makes him rise. He steps outside of the tavern. [Arsenal] He sits, and suddenly seems much older. * Bourne speaks quietly to his comrades. "Six pirate ships, crewed with dozens each. Unless that hoard is vaster than the dreams of avarice, there'll be a fight over the spoils, mark my words." "Good spill." She chuckles, then notices his expression. Whispering, "What's wrong?" [Arsenal] eight pirate ships, nine if you count the airship * Monika nods.... *to Keegis* "What's the catch? The Redwater fanatics would have that Black Vault guarded tight enough to hold off seige for years." [Arsenal] "It was easier when I was younger." [Arsenal] Cur: "If they were relying on numbers and magic to seal it away. Instead, they're relying on secrecy." "Yeah, well, who says they're all going to make it?" He smirks. "Just keep watch on our backs, and we'll be fine." He then walks over to Drake. "Impressive. See why you're so famous, or is infamous the word?" [Arsenal] "Both fit, young man. I've been in this business long enough. It's time to retire, and this is the mother lode to help make that dream a reality." * Sylvia *chuckled* and patted his shoulder. "Only you pop, only you." "Well, if you're going to make a fresh start, having a sizable nest egg is the most prudent option, even if it's obtained by the most audacious means. +" * Veshengo nods. "By the way, name's Veshengo. I'm a shipmate of Sylvia over there, and let me tell you, she's certainly living up to the reputation." * Neil is seen briefly through the Tavern windows to be padding off in the direction of the docks. "I can attest to that, sir. She's had her share of shoals, but she's come through them with her head held high." [Arsenal] "I go by Vengeance Drake nowadays. Any shipmate of my daughter's can just call me Drake, though." [Arsenal] "Except those disgusting goblins you arrived with." He shudders. * Veshengo grins. "No offense, but I'd probably call ya Drake anyways. And believe me, they weren't our idea." * Sylvia *blushes* [Arsenal] "Well, I told my best story yet earlier... whatchu blushing for, Angel? Let's hear about what happened on your way down here." * Bourne muses over things that could go wrong with this plan. Internecine pirate squabbles... heavier guard than expected... cursed old magical items... "Well I haven't done all that much really... thought the 2 most exciting thing so far for me was the blue dragon and the weresharks." [Arsenal] "Tell me of the dragon." She'll tell the tale of the dragon. "A shame... it was young too..." . o O (I got into this business because I wanted to escape the city and didn't particularly like Marach. Redwater... haven't heard so much of them, but they don't sound like fun either. If it actually works, and I get some useful or saleable goods... maybe I could get ot of the business myself. Retire young, with a whole skin.) * Curuar sits and thinks things over, nursing his drink "I know it was evil...but still it was sad." ((Oh gee, mourn the dragon and not the crazy bastard)) . o O (That new land... a man could avoid the crowds there for sure. Leave a pirate's reputation behind, even if he is a privateer. Buy some supplies, get dropped off by a ship, stake out a piece to call home and live without anyone bothering you.) He shakes his head. "No women, though." [Arsenal] "Ain't nothin' to be ashamed about, Angel. Blues are mean, nasty, and ornery at any age. Even returning it from death wouldn't've helped, and I'm not even sure that's possible." ( crazy bastard still alive ;) hehe ) ((If Crazy bastard was still be present the bar would be on fire.)) * Veshengo blinks and smirks. "Ah, almost forgot about that!" He checks through his backpack, eventually comming up with some of the dragon's teeth, and throwing Monika one of the thing's talons. "You wanted one of these, right?" ( yep ;) figured that Neil hehehe ) [Arsenal] "You protected your ship and your shipmates. That's something any sailor would be proud of." * Bourne sits back. Pirate town should have a place to unload loot, right? [Arsenal] "By the way, how red was the elf's chest after that belly- flop?" [Arsenal] ^_^ (Yup. Curuar's the comic relief.) * Sylvia looked down at her hands in her lap. "Didn't quite make it though..for one of our crewmembers. At least Capt Dravies had a scroll to bring him back." (and Keegis is laughing her ass off?) . o O (On second thought, nah. I'll get a better price for it nearer civilization anyway.) [Arsenal] Cur: *yeep* "Redder than a crate of tomatoes, if I do say so myself." [Arsenal] Drake laughs rather loudly * Curuar is likely blushing in embarassment at that. "Was thinkin' more along the line of apples." He grins back at Curuar. [Arsenal] "Red or green apples?" "Red. Very red." * Arsenal oocly yawns... all for stopping here? Sure.
